President Victor Jenkins read the District’s Mission and Vision Statements.
A. District Data Report Card Director Danielle Nahorney presented an overview of district initiatives aligned to the strategic plan, with supporting data available on the district website, including the state report card, interactive district report card, and community feedback. The focus remains on improving student achievement and expanding learning opportunities to meet diverse student needs, with ongoing monitoring of proficiency levels and subgroup performance through annual equity audits.
An update was provided on New York State graduation requirements, including the development of a Portrait of a Graduate, incorporation of personal finance and climate education, and the transition to a single diploma beginning with the 2027–28 school year. Discussion included the role of project-based and performance-based learning, as well as the need for continued collaboration and clarity around competencies such as global citizenship.
The Board reviewed accountability measures and student performance data, including progress at Elden Elementary School, which is identified for Targeted Support and Improvement. Growth trends, subgroup performance, and state assessment results were discussed, along with strategies to support student achievement, including instructional improvements, professional development, and targeted interventions.
Additional discussion focused on student engagement, behavior supports, and inclusive practices, including restorative approaches, bias awareness, and efforts to keep students engaged in the classroom. Updates were also provided on curriculum development, elementary report card enhancements, career and technical education programming, and ongoing professional learning opportunities for staff and leadership. The session concluded with appreciation for community engagement efforts and a commitment to continued data-informed decision-making.
