Report published 2026-10-27T22:19:36+00:00 UTC. Based on the complete official 2026 ballot-style guide, all three Clay sample ballots and the county election webpages checked October 27. Source publication dates are not supplied; the sample index is marked revised September 17, 2026.
Clay voters will use three sample-ballot styles in the November 3 general election, depending on their election district. The differences include the county legislature race, while the town supervisor and town clerk contests and two county term-limit questions appear across all three Clay samples.[1][2][3][4][5]
The Onondaga County Board of Elections lists early voting for October 24 through November 1 and election day polling hours of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3. With voting underway, the official samples offer a way to check both sides before going to vote.[6]
Find your ballot style
The county's complete 2026 style guide assigns Clay's election districts 001 through 046 to styles 11, 12 or 13. The Board of Elections says to use the town, ward and district assigned to your address to find the correct sample. If you are unsure, its sample-ballot page lists 315-435-8683 for help.[1][2]
For example, Clay election district 001 uses style 11, district 002 uses style 12, and district 003 uses style 13. Districts 009, 010 and 038 also use style 12. Use the linked official guide for your own district rather than assuming that everyone with a Clay address has the same ballot.[2]
Three county legislature contests
The front of each Clay sample identifies a different county legislature district and a vote-for-one contest:
• Style 11: 2nd District — Matt Jones and Kevin J. Meaker.
• Style 12: 5th District — Ellen Block and Daniel A. Ciciarelli.
• Style 13: 14th District — Jessica Dapson and Cody M. Kelly.[3][4][5]
These are the names printed on the three current samples. Checking the style first helps residents review the county legislature contest assigned to their election district.[1][2][3][4][5]
The town races shared by all three
All three fronts list Dave Capria and Joseph A. Bick for town supervisor. For town clerk, they list Justin P. Bailey and Jill E. Hageman-Clark. Each contest says to vote for one.[3][4][5]
The samples also contain the state, federal, county and judicial contests printed on their fronts. The county's sample-ballot index links the complete two-page PDFs for styles 11, 12 and 13; readers can open the entire sample rather than relying on this guide's local-race summary.[1][3][4][5]
Turn the sample over
The reverse of each Clay sample carries two separate Onondaga County propositions concerning the offices of County Executive and County Comptroller:
• Proposition 1 would establish a limit of three consecutive four-year terms — 12 consecutive years.
• Proposition 2 would establish a limit of four consecutive four-year terms — 16 consecutive years.[3][4][5]
Each proposition has its own Yes and No choices. The printed instructions say to mark the oval to the left of the choice and to ask a poll worker for a new ballot if you make a mistake or want to change your vote. The front also reminds voters to vote both sides.[3][4][5]
The Board of Elections marks its sample-ballot index as revised September 17, 2026. The documents were checked October 27; this is a guide to the current official samples, not a newly announced ballot change.[1]
