TOWN OF CLAY
A LOCAL LAW AMENDING CHAPTER 205 ENTITLED "TAXATION", ARTICLE IV,
ALTERNATIVE VETERANS EXEMPTION TO THE TOWN OF CLAY MUNICIPAL CODE
IT IS ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Clay, County of Onondaga as foiiows:
SECTION 1, AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 205 entitled "TAXATION", by amending
'ARTICLE IV, ALTERNATIVE VETERANS EXEMPTION, SECTION 205-15, Granting of
exemption' and Section 205-16, Applicability of the Code of the Town of Clay.
Chapter 205 entitled "TAXATION", ARTICLE IV, ALTERNATIVE
VETERANS EXPEMPTION, Section 205.15, Granting of Exemption, Paragraphs A,
B and C of the Code of the Town of Clay, is hereby amended. The purpose of this local
law is to increase the maximum exemption aliowabie to veterans to A. thirty-six thousand
dollars ($36,000.00), 8. twenty-four thousand dollars ($24,000.00) and C. one hundred
twenty thousand dollars ($120,000.00) respectively, as provided in Section 458-a of the
New York State Real Property Tax Law and Section 205-16. Applicability, this Local
Law shall apply to the assessment roll prepared on the taxable status date occurring on
or after January 1, 2008. Said Local Law is to read as follows:
ARTICLE IV
§ 205-15 ALTERNATIVE VETERANS EXEMPTION § 205-16
§ 205-15 Granting of exemption.
A. The maximum exemption allowable pursuant to Paragraph (a) of subdivision 2 of § 458-a of
the Real Property Tax Law is hereby increased to the sum of $36,000.00;
B. The maximum exemption allowable pursuant to Paragraph (b) of subdivision 2 of § 458-a of
the Real Property Tax Law is hereby increased to the sum of $24,000.00; and
C. The maximum exemption allowable pursuant to Paragraph (c) of subdivision 2 of § 458-a of
the Real Property Tax Law is hereby increased to the sum of $120,000.00.
§ 205-16 Applicability.
This local law shall apply to assessment rolls prepared on the basis of a taxable status date
occurring on or after January 1st, 2008.
This local law amendment shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State.
