The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Ulatowski at 4:30 P.M. All present joined in the Pledge of Allegiance.
REGULAR MEETING:
Councilor Meaker read the following resolution:
WHEREAS, Town Law § 65 provides that the town board of any town may authorize and
direct any town officer or officers to institute, defend or appear, in any action or legal proceeding, in the name of the town, as in its judgment may be necessary, for the benefit or protection of the town, in any of its rights or property; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Town of Clay Town Board acknowledges and supports retaining the law firm of Knauf Shaw LLP of Rochester, NY to prosecute an action on behalf of the residents of the Town of Clay with a contribution not to exceed $15,000 and authorize the Supervisor to sign any necessary documents.

2 Supervisor Ulatowski began by explaining that this is a Resolution to pledge funds for the lawsuit opposing the destruction of I-81 and subsequent construction of “Business Loop 81”. There are several towns involved including Salina, Dewitt and Onondaga as well as the city of Syracuse.
Councilor Pleskach said that he is against this initiative, dumping buckets of money. Councilor Meaker asked who hired the law firm. Supervisor Ulatowski said that the SAVE I-81 group hired them after fighting for 6 years for a seat at the table. There has never been a Public Hearing at the Regional level; this was all done without factoring in the questions and opinions of all involved parties impacted by this project. Motion was seconded by Councilor Bick.
Ayes – 4 and Noes – 1. Motion carried. Councilor Pleskach voting no.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:46 P.M. upon motion by Councilor Young and seconded by Councilor Bick.
Ayes – 5 and Noes – 0. Motion carried.
