A resolution to hang photographs of past Liverpool superintendents and staff in the district boardroom drew more support than opposition — and still failed, according to the minutes of the board's Jan. 13 special meeting. Six of the board's eight members were present when the resolution, offered from the floor by Jecenia Bresett and seconded by Kimberly Melnik, proposed placing photos and descriptions of past superintendents and "certain staff members" on the boardroom wall above the administrative cabinet area. A motion to postpone the vote to the board's next meeting failed 2-4, with only Kimberly Martin and John Solazzo wanting to wait. The board then voted on the resolution itself: Nicholas Blaney, Bresett, Melnik and Matthew Jones voted aye, and Martin and Solazzo voted nay. Despite that 4-2 tally, the minutes record the outcome as "Motion failed." The record does not explain why four votes in favor did not carry the day. The board then moved unanimously into executive session and, just as unanimously, back out of it a short time later; the minutes give no stated purpose for the closed session. No further business is recorded before the meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. — two hours and 14 minutes after it opened, though the minutes account for only a few minutes' worth of recorded votes and discussion.
