Food Service Appreciation Week September 28 through October 2, 2026 The North Syracuse Central School District Food Service Staff have contributed to the health and educational development of our district’s children by making nutritious breakfasts and lunches that help students improve grades, increase attention, reduce absence and tardy rates, and improve behavior.
The Food Service Staff continues to make positive changes in order to provide nutritional meals that meet the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and are a dedicated group of professionals. To honor the food service staff of the North Syracuse Central School District and their accomplishments on behalf of the children who attend our schools, I, Michael Mirizio, President of the Board of Education of the North Syracuse Central School District, on behalf of the Board, express our deepest gratitude, and proclaim the week of September 28 through October 2, 2026 as Food Service Appreciation Weekto be celebrated with appropriate educational activities.

A period of time, not to exceed 30 minutes, is set aside at Regular meetings of the board for the purpose of hearing comments from interested individuals. Board of Education members will not engage in conversation or answer questions during this portion of the meeting. Consideration of the Classification and School Placement of Disabled Students Certified by the District Committee on Special Education for 9/16 and 9/22/2026 When the District Committee on Special Education certifies the eligibility of students within the district as disabled, it is required by State Statute, Chapter 853, Article 69, Section 4402.1B(3) (a-g) and Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, Section 200.5(b) that the Committee make recommendations to the Board of Education on classification and placement. The Board of Education, pursuant to Regulations of the Commissioner, Section 200.5(b)(3), shall notify the parent(s)/guardian(s) of its decision within thirty (30) days, of the Committee's recommendation. The lists are included in each board member's packet.
All personally identifiable information (student name) is deleted and students are reported by student number. The Deputy Superintendent will be available at the Board of Education meeting to supply any other needed information. RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION: Approve the classification and school placement of disabled students who are certified as eligible to receive special education by the District Committee on Special Education for 9/16 and 9/22/2026. c.
Consideration of Classification and Placement of Preschool Disabled Students Certified by the District Committee on Preschool Special Education for 9/15/2026 In accordance with Chapter 243 of the Laws of 1989 and P.L. 94-142 as amended by P.L. 99-457, the Board of Education is responsible for assuring the rights and due process protection for preschool children with a disability. Education Law 4410 requires the Board of Education to appoint a Committee on Preschool Special Education to certify eligibility of disabled preschoolers and make recommendations to the Board of Education on classification and program placement, as approved by the State Education Department.
Within thirty (30) days of this recommendation, the Board of Education will determine an arrangement for services, and notify the parent, appropriate municipality, the designated program and the Commissioner of Education of its decision. The lists are included in each board member's packet. All personally identifiable information (student name) is deleted and students are reported by student number. Declaration of Marketable and Non-Marketable Surplus The District has marketable surplus at various locations. Marketable surplus, which has some value to others, will be offered for disposal through an on-line auction conducted by Auctions International.
The District has non-marketable equipment at various locations. It is recommended that the Board of Education declare the non-marketable surplus be disposed of. Acknowledgement of Gift - Dollar General The North Syracuse Central School District received student school supplies in the approximate amount of $1,000. The Dollar General store, located at 6046 East Taft Road, Syracuse, NY 13212, collected items from customers for donation to our students. Donations were presented to Allen, KWS Bear and Smith Road elementary schools for distribution to students in need. Recommended Board Action: Accept with gratitude the above referenced gift. f.
Acknowledgement of Gift - EMTA The North Syracuse Central School District received a grant of $1,000 from the New York State Education Media Technology Association for Media Literacy. Recommended Board Action: Accept with gratitude the above referenced gift. g. Acknowledgement of Gift - Wild Ones The North Syracuse Central School District received a check for $450.00 from Wild Ones, an organization that promotes awareness of native plants. This project is led by Cal Robinson, a 10th grade biology teacher at Cicero North Syracuse High School. Native plants will be planted in garden beds at the High School. This project will give students the opportunity to make meaningful connections to their local ecosystems while learning about biodiversity, habitat restoration, polination and more.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT Jamie Sullivan and Amanda Viel are hereby certified as a Qualified Lead Evaluator of building principals having successfully completed the following training requirements prescribed in 8 NYCRR §30-2.9 (b): 1. The New York State Teaching Standards, and their related elements and performance indicators/the Leadership Standards and their related functions; 2. Evidence-based observation techniques that are grounded in research; 3. Application and use of the student growth percentile model and the value-added growth model as defined in 8 NYCRR §30-2.2; 4.
Application and use of the State-approved rubrics selected by the North Syracuse Central School District for use in the evaluation of building principals, including training on the effective application of such rubric to observe a classroom teacher’s practice; 5. Application and use of the assessment tools that the North Syracuse Central School District utilizes to evaluate its building principals including, but not limited to announced visits and unannounced visits; 6. Application and use of the State-approved locally selected measures of student achievement used by the North Syracuse Central School District to evaluate its building principals; 7.
The scoring methodology utilized by the Department and the North Syracuse Central School District to evaluate building principals under 8 NYCRR §30-2, including: (a) how scores are generated for each subcomponent and the composite effectiveness score of building principals, and (b) application and use of the scoring ranges prescribed by the Commissioner for the four designated rating categories used for the overall rating categories used for the overall rating of building principals and their subcomponent ratings; and 8. Specific considerations in evaluating building principals of English language learners and students with disabilities.
Training on the use of Statewide Instructional Reporting System, also required by 8 NYCRR §30-2.9 (b), will be provided once the NYS Education Department makes available the information required for such training. This certification has been issued in accordance with the process for certifying lead evaluators described in the North Syracuse Central School District’s annual professional performance review plan.
